Amaiya Zafar, Gym Lead & Co-Founder

Britney Harris, HR and Operations Manager & Co-Founder

Amaiya Zafar is a dynamic leader with a degree in Sports Science and a proven track record of breaking barriers and inspiring others. As the Gym Lead at Ummah Fit Gym & Wellness Center, Amaiya channels her expertise in athletic performance, team dynamics, and sports education to create transformative fitness experiences. Her leadership style is rooted in inclusivity, discipline, and empowerment, making her a role model for both clients and colleagues alike. A trailblazer in her own right, Amaiya made history by changing the rules of AIBA boxing to allow women to compete in the Olympics while wearing the hijab. Her courage and advocacy have earned her a lasting legacy as a pioneer for Muslim women in sports. Amaiya’s leadership and influence extend far beyond the boxing ring. She has been featured in the Minnesota History Museum, National Geographic, and media platforms such as ESPN, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, and Time Magazine (on International Women’s Day). Her story is also recognized in school curriculums, where she serves as an inspiration for the next generation of athletes. In addition to her competitive successes in the Golden Gloves, Ringside World Championships, and Sugar Bert tournaments, Amaiya has taken on roles that reflect her leadership capabilities. She has spoken at WE events, participated in a Ford commercial, and starred in Jared Leto’s documentary Day in the Life of an American as well as Day in the Life of a Muslim. Through these platforms, she continues to challenge stereotypes and advocate for women’s rights in sports globally. As a retired boxer, Amaiya’s focus is now on mentoring and leading at Ummah Fit, where she harnesses her experience to develop personalized fitness programs that inspire and uplift others. Her approach is guided by a commitment to inclusivity and pushing individuals to realize their full potential—both in and out of the gym.

Britney Harris has over 10 years of experience in operations, compliance, and human resource management, Britney Harris brings a wealth of expertise to Ummah Fit. In her extensive career in the fitness industry, Britney has successfully streamlined multi-location operations, led digital marketing initiatives, and fostered community engagement across diverse teams. Her leadership in managing start-ups and driving operational excellence makes her a perfect fit to lead Ummah Fit's HR and Operations, ensuring a seamless experience for staff and clients alike.

Britney is passionate about creating inclusive, high-performing environments and is dedicated to making Ummah Fit a place where trainers thrive, clients are empowered, and investors see growth. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Relations/Communications from the University of Maine and has extensive experience across both nonprofit organizations and business ventures.

Known for her visionary approach to team-building and her ability to manage complex projects, Britney is excited to bring her skills to Ummah Fit, helping us grow as a fitness community where faith and fitness come together. A native of Michigan, Johanna Osman comes from a large family engaged in social service and development.

Throughout her life, she has lived in more than 22 different homes in 5 states and 2 countries. Johanna

attributes her boundless flexibility and her curiosity about communities and cultures to these life

experiences.

With a BA in Conflict

A native of Michigan, Johanna Osman comes from a large family engaged in social service and development.

Throughout her life, she has lived in more than 22 different homes in 5 states and 2 countries. Johanna

attributes her boundless flexibility and her curiosity about communities and cultures to these life

experiences.

With a BA in Conflict Resolution and MA in Nonprofit Management, Johanna is active in building healthy

relationships among and within communities. She is the executive director of Sakan Community

Resource, a nonprofit organization in Minnesota. Sakan’s mission is to make it possible for all people to

have stable homes and financial tools that align with their faith and values.

As an individual investor, Johanna holds interests in 12 real estate projects focused on rental housing

and small businesses throughout Minnesota, the majority are within the Twin Cities metro area.

Johanna is owner and manager of Straight Path Partners LLC. As of August 2024, Straight Path Partners

LLC holds ownership interests in 3 projects Bloomington and St. Cloud, MN.

Humayun Zafar is a former U.S. Marine, community psychologist, therapist, and wellness coach who has made significant contributions to the fitness industry. As the CEO and Founder of Ummah Fit Gym & Wellness Center, Humayun has devoted his career to creating spaces that cater to the unique needs of Muslims, particularly women, in their pursuit of physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. His journey was deeply inspired by his daughter, Amaiya Zafar, a trailblazing boxer who overcame numerous challenges to compete while adhering to her faith. Witnessing Amaiya’s struggles highlighted the lack of fitness spaces that respect religious values, especially for women. This realization drove Humayun to establish Ummah Fit, where he integrates Islamic principles into fitness training, ensuring that members can strengthen their bodies, minds, and souls in a supportive, faith-conscious environment.

In addition to his work at Ummah Fit, Humayun has received several notable accolades:

National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) Fellow (2022), for his commitment to supporting underserved communities.
Anti-Racism & Diversity Leader Award, issued by the Anti-Racism Leadership Team (ARLT) and Diversity Learning Task Force at Metropolitan State University.
Minnesota Humanities Center's 25 Veterans' Voices Award, honoring his contributions to veterans and the broader community.
Unity and Renewal Award, issued by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN).

Humayun is also known for organizing the 30 Miles in Ramadan Challenge for over a decade, where participants run a mile a day during Ramadan, fostering both physical endurance and community spirit. He has organized fall and spring health and wellness expos for five consecutive years and continues to inspire and empower others through his leadership in wellness and his dedication to cultural and religious inclusivity. Through Ummah Fit Gym & Wellness Center, Humayun’s vision of a holistic, faith-based approach to fitness has become a reality, offering a unique space for the communities to thrive in body, mind, and soul.

Gianni Quilicia has an eclectic background. He was born in France but grew up in South America, where he developed a love for long distance running, soccer and languages. He speaks 5 languages and still plays soccer to this day. In fact, he and his wife ran a soccer club for a few years after he moved to the US. He is one of the original founders of Ummah Fit.
